This is a part of the blog of ”the making of the anthem” to EQLovesFestival 2018 in collaboration with Swedish Propellerhead Reason and Ehrlunds Michrophones.
When we started our production we knew that we wanted a heavy bass. In order to benefits all kinds of monitors, speakers and headphones we duplicated the sub bass and raised it an octave. We also added a lighter distorted bass for some added texture.
We searched through Reason’s Polyphonic Synthesizer and choose ”Edgy Sub Bass” and ”Attackbassonfire”. We also parallel compressed their mid:s to bring out som more tone.

We also wanted an arp-melody that would stick to the listeners mind and match our leading words ”Positive & fun” so we chose to work with Reazon sounds combinator patch ”Calm -SP”(see video) We placed the arp as a rhythmic function in the production. In the beginning it ran through the whole song but it made the dynamics a bit flat so instead we let it in on the bridge and let it build up towards and lift the chorus.
We also played around a little with the Grain Sample Manipulator & Malström Graintable Synthesizer during the process and thought they were really cool. If you want to know more about them you can read more about them here:
